Swahid Diwas : Govt trying to bulldoze Assam’s ‘supreme sacrifices’: AASU

Pratidin Bureau

In order to pay tribute to the 855 martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the State, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) will observe Swahid Diwas throughout the State on Tuesday commemorating the sacrifice of the first martyr of the Assam movement Khargeswar Talukdar.

Meanwhile, the government has gone all out to bulldoze the aspirations of the people of Assam and the rest of the northeast.

"They want to invalidate the Assam Accord by passing the CAB on December 10, which is observed as Swahid Diwas in commemoration of the sacrifices made by one of the slain torchbearers of the Assam agitation, Khargeswar Talukdar", said AASU.

The student body will organise tribute-paying programmes in every subdivision of the State. In a statement, the AASU said that the State would never forget the supreme sacrifices made by the 855 martyrs and their families.
