Tarun Gogoi : Fully support genuine MeToo cases

Pratidin Bureau

Tarun Gogoi, former Chief Minister of Assam has expressed  his opinion on the MeToo cases in the country, saying that he fully supports genuine cases.

Gogoi said, "This was happening first in America and now across the world. I totally support the genuine cases, but no false allegations should be levelled against anyone. Even I was accused by a woman once, but later it turned out to be fake and politically motivated." He added, "Whatever are truthful (in the cases), I support 100 per cent. But if there is any untruth, then it should be exposed."

Scores of women have come out to speak about their ordeals on social media, including actors, musicians, journalists, and politicians.

Over the last month, women have leveled allegations of sexual misconduct against Subhash Ghai, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Chetan Bhagat, Sajid Khan, and Varun Grover, among others.

Few days back, Assam's Entrepreneur-conservationist Nisha Bora, accused Padma Bhushan recipient artist Jatin Das of sexually harassing her at his Khidki village studio in 2004, which Das refuted as "ridiculous and vulgar".
