Tragedy strikes marriage party; 4 Killed in magic-truck collision

In a sensational incident, at least four people of a marriage party reported to be dead after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Pawoi in Digboi late on Sunday night.

Out of the passengers, four died on the spot while fourteen more, who sustained serious injuries have been admitted to nearby Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Jairam Shah, Urmila Devi Sarmah, Jaleswar Giri and Bishu das.

According to locals, the Tata Magic vehicle, where the marriage party was travelling in rammed into a coal-laden truck. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot immediately after the accident and currently monitoring the situation.

Notably, there have been many incidents in the past when people have lost their lives while returning or going to attend a marriage function.
