Pratidin Bureau

A COVID-19 positive patient allegedly died by suicide by jumping off the third floor of a hospital building in Tripura, the police said.

According to a PTI report, the man, a resident of Muhuripur village in South Tripura district, was admitted to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital on Friday after allegedly consuming poison.

He had tested positive for COVID-19 during the mandatory rapid antigen test conducted before his admission to the hospital.

The man jumped off a window from the third floor of the hospital building on Saturday. He died on spot, the police said. "Preliminary investigation suggests that the man was suffering from depression and he had twice attempted suicide earlier," officer-in-charge of GB police station, Rakesh Patoari said.
