Trucks Laden With Cattle Seized In Sonapur

Sensation prevailed in Sonapuri area of Kamrup district in Assam on Friday after two trucks laden with cattle were seized in the area after the two trucks met with an accident.

The drivers and the handymen of the trucks fled from the spotimmediately after the accident.

The cattle full of trucks were coming from Upper Assam and it is suspected that the cattle were being carried to be smuggled out of the state.

Locals suspect the hand of a cattle syndicate behind this transportation of the cattle.

Meanwhile, the Sonapur Police has seized the two trucks and from one truck bearing the registration number AS-01-DD-6599, the police have also recovered some documents and 25 challans.

From the documents of the trucks, the police have identified the owner of the truck as one Sargiyari from Beltola area of Guwahati.

Even though the documents and the challans show that the bovines were brought from Dhemaji, but to where it was carried is not yet ascertained.

The police are also testing the originality of the documents.

From the second truck bearing the registration number AS-01-EC-7875, the police have not recovered any documents so far.

Police has begun investigating, registering a case on its own.
