In a sensational incident, a youth was shot dead by unknown miscreants in Hojai on Wednesday evening. The incident took place at the Old Bazar area in Hojai town.

The deceased has been identified as Prasenjit Nandi, who hails from the Golaghatia Basti area.

Meanwhile,police were informed immediately after the incident. The reason behind theincident is yet to be ascertained. Police have recovered an empty cartridgefrom the spot.
