Pratidin Bureau

A vehicle diverged off a road killing thirteen people and injuring three others in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla on Saturday.

The accident happened three kilometres from Kuddu on Tiyuni Road at Snail.

Among the thirteen dead there were four women and the three injured included a child. The injured have been admitted to Rohru hospital, Shimla Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said.

A police team led by Jubbal Station House Officer and Swara police post in-charge is at the accident site, he added.

Last month, at least 11 people died after a car rolled down a hill near Rohtang at Rani Nallah, in Kullu district. In an earlier incident, at least 33 university staffers were killed when a bus on a picnic trip fell into a deep gorge near Poladpur, around 175 km from Mumbai. There were 34 people traveling on the bus, and only one person could manage to survive.
