Bengal CM Lashes Out At BJP

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday lashed outat Bharatiya Janata Party at an event to unveil a new statue of Bengal reformerIshwar Chandra Vidyasagar that was broken during the Lok Sabha elections.

Banerjee said,"Bengal is not a toy. You cannot play with it. Youcannot do anything you want with Bengal." Her comments were aimed at the BJPand the national coalition that it leads in Delhi.

The event was attended by Trinamool Congress leaders,ministersof West Bengal government as well as some spiritual leaders.

The statue of 19th Century social reformer wasvandalized in clashes during the May 14 Amit Shah roadshow.

It may be mentioned here that events related to re-installationof the bust tuesday was organized by the state's Higher Education and SchoolEducation Department in collaboration with the committee for the 200thbirth anniversary of Vidyasagar, according to West Bengal Information andCultural Department.
