Pratidin Bureau

As Bihar fights encephalitis, which has claimed 128 lives till now in Muzaffarpur, the Darbhanga Hospital aka Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) lacks hygiene and basic facilities and the hospital building is also in a dilapidated condition.

The patients further complained about the lack of medicines in the hospital. They further said that fans and ACs of the hospital were also non-functional.

A hospital staffer further informed that the hospital walls are on the verge of collapsing and some parts of the hospital have already collapsed.

"Unfortunately, the administration isn't looking into the matter," further said the staffer.

It may be further written here that a foul smell emanating from the garbage dumped in the hospital premises also attracts animals and other insects.

It may be mentioned here that even though DMCH Medical Superintendent Raj Ranjan Prasad have informed the concerned authorities and ministers explaining the condition of the hospital, but no action has been taken so far.

Prasad further informed that he has written to the authorities several times and said if something is not done immediately to improve the condition of Darbhanga hospital immediately, then various parts of the building may collapse as the conditions of many blocks of the hospital are abysmal.
