Manmohan Singh nominated to parliamentary committee on finance

Former Prime Minister and senior Congress leaderManmohan Singh has been nominated to the parliamentary standing committee onfinance. He was nominated by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M VenkaiahNaidu in place of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

According to the Rajya Sabha bulletin, Digvijaya Singh has now been nominated to the parliamentary standing committee on urban development by Naidu. Reports suggested that Digvijay Singh resigned from the parliamentary standing committee on finance to make way for the former PM.

"The Rajya Sabha chairman has nominated ManmohanSingh, member, Rajya Sabha, to be a member of the committee on finance in placeof Digvijaya Singh. The chairman has also nominated Digvijaya Singh, member,Rajya Sabha, to be a member of the committee on urban development," thebulletin read.

It may be mentioned here that Singh was an earlier member of the panel from September 2014 to May 2019. His tenure in the Upper House ended in June this year. Later in August, he was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
