Militant Killed In J&K

In a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir"s Baramulla district on Saturday morning, a non-local militant was killed.

The encounter began in the morning between militants and the Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group of state police in Boniyar area of Uri sector, police sources said.

It may be mentioned here that an unidentified non-local militant has so far has been killed in this encounter. The operation against the militants is still on.

In another incident on Friday evening, a three-wheeler driver was injured in an alleged army firing in Jammu and Kashmir"s Pulwama district.

Police said that Muhammad Shafi Ganai, a three-wheeler driver was flagged down by army soldiers at a check post in Romishi Nallah late on Friday.

"The driver ignored the signal and drove past the check post after which the soldiers fired. The driver sustained a gunshot injury on his hand. He has been admitted at a hospital in Srinagar city for treatment," police said.
