Parliament Winter Session To be Held from Nov 18

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on Mondayannounced that the next session of Parliament will start from November 18. The ministryannounced the dates to the secretariats of both the houses of Parliament.

The Parliament is expected to take up a number ofbills in the upcoming winter session. Two crucial ordinances are also on thelist to be converted into law during the winter session of the Parliament.

According to reports, one ordinance reducing thecorporate tax rate for new and domestic manufacturing companies to arrest slowdownin the economy and boost growth was issued in September to give effect toamendments in the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Finance Act, 2019. The secondordinance, also issued in September, banned the sale, manufacture and storageof e-cigarettes and similar products.

In the last two years, winter sessions have beenconvened on November 21 and ended in the first week of January.
