President’s Rule Imposed in Maharashtra

The President's rule has now been imposed inMaharashtra. President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday evening approved Maharashtra GovernorBSKoshyari's recommendation of President's rule in Maharashtra.

The imposition came as no party has staked claim toform the government even more than a fortnight after the results of the Assemblypolls were announced on October 24.

The governor had earlier given the NCP time till 8.30 pm today to prove that it has the numbers after the Sena on Monday failed to get letters of support from other political parties before the deadline set by the Governor came to an end.

It may be mentioned here that Congress has indicatedit is keen on a CM from its ally NCP backed by the Shiv Sena.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging Maharashtra government's decision to not extend the time given to the party to prove their ability to form the government.
