Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday became  the first defence minister to fly in theindigenously built light combat aircraft (LCA) as he flew in the Tejas fighteraircraft from the HAL airport in Bengaluru,

He was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal N Tiwari, who is alsothe Project Director, National Flight Test Centre, ADA (Aeronautical DevelopmentAgency) in Bengaluru.

The minister flew one sortie in the twin-seater version ofTejas from HAL airport in Bengaluru. Wearing a G-suit, Rajnath Singh hadearlier on Thursday posted photos on Twitter saying he was "all set"for the big day

In a major milestone in the development of a naval versionof Tejas, the aircraft had earlier successfully carried out an "arrestedlanding", a key performance demonstrating its ability to land on board anaircraft carrier.
