Section 144 imposed in Srinagar; Cabinet Meet Today

Amidheightened tensions, Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in Srinagar from Mondaymidnight. Internet services have also been suspended in Kashmir valley.

Securitytightened in the valley following the imposition of section 144. Theuniversities have been ordered to cancel classes as well as examinationscheduled today. Former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah were placed underhouse arrest.

However,J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik said that no moves are planned to repealArticles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, or the State's trifurcation.

Meanwhile, Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet today at 9:30 am at the Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi to take a decision on the Kashmir issue.
