UP flyover collapse | State Bridge Corporation MD removed

The Uttar Pradesh government has removed the Managing Director of UP State Bridge Corporation Rajan Mittal in wake of the Varanasi flyover collapse on May 15.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya, who also holds the PWD portfolio, said in a tweet that Mittal has been relieved from the post of MD with immediate effect.

JK Srivastav, Chief Engineer (Externally Aided Projects) in UP PWD, has been posted as the new MD of the corporation.

It may be mentioned here that the UP State Bridge Corporation was constructing the 2261-metre flyover at a cost of Rs 129 crore and the span which fell was laid three months ago.

The government has also suspended four officials of the corporation looking after the work. The police have also registered an FIR against the corporation.
