Won’t gift Kashmir to Muslims: Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena,while reiterating its stand on the abrogation of Article 370 of theConstitution said that Kashmir will not be given to Muslims as a gift.

In aneditorial mouthpiece of Saamna, Shiv Sena said that the population of Muslimsin the valley is 68.35 percent while Hindus make up to 28.45 percent of thetotal strength in the state but this doesn't mean Kashmir will be given toMuslims as a gift. He said that the Kashmiris are Indians too and the laws ofthe country must be extended to them and for this Article 370 must beabrogated.

Article 370protects and grants special status to the sovereignty of the state and gives itthe power to make a separate set of laws to be applied for its governance. ShivSena also praises Union Home Minister Amit Shah for taking up the issue ofdelimitation of constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.

On June 4,Shah held a high-level meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik,Intelligence Bureau Director Rajiv Jain and Ministry of Home Affairs to discussthe long-pending issue of delimitation of constituencies.

The high-levelmeeting held by Amit Shah stated that politics in the state has so far beenplayed in the pressure to keep the Muslim population happy. The delimitation isopposed so that no Hindu Chief Minister is ever elected.
