Pratidin Bureau

With rapid increase in fuel prices across India for 16 continuous days, a decline was finally seen on Wednesday. However, fuel prices were reduced by only one paisa, compared to an increase of Rs 3.80 per litre of petrol and Rs 3.38 per litre of diesel.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has criticised this reduction and termed it as 'Tamacha'.

It may be mentioned here that on Wednesday morning, oil companies had announced a reduction in petrol price by 60 paise a litre and diesel by 56 paise in Delhi. Within hours of the announcement, stating a printing error, they clarified that the cut is just one paisa a litre.

It is noteworthy that petrol and diesel prices shall be reduced by one rupee in Kerala from from June 01 as decided by the state government.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has said that after increase in fuel price for 16 consecutive days, a reduction of one paisa is an insult to the public.

According to latest developments, petrol price has been reduced by four paisa and diesel by two paisa on Thursday.
