Batting woes continue as Assam stare at innings defeat against Madhya Pradesh

Pratidin Bureau

Assam find themselves in huge trouble against Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing Col. CK Nayudu Cricket Tournament owing to yet another fresh batting failure. Batting first in the Satindra Mohan Dev cricket stadium in Silchar, visitors Madhya Pradesh piled up 401 and the onus was on the Assam batters to make a statement.

However, the home team were bundled out for 217 in the first innings, with Abhishek Thakuria(53) and Rajat Khan(52) being the notable contributors. Being enforced to follow-on, Assam were on 60/4 with Biplab Saikia remaining unbeaten on 32 at the end of Day 3 on Sunday. It remains to be seen how the team deals with the batting blemishes on the Fourth and final day.
