U-19 Girls Inter District Hockey Championship: Nagaon clinches title

Nagaon girls edged their counterparts from Kokrajhar to seal the Under 19 Inter-District Hockey championship. In the tournament final played at the Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon on Wednesday, the hosts bettered their opponents after initially falling behind in the match.

At the end of regulation time, both sides were locked at 1-1. It was Kokrajhar who took the lead in the match via Priyangshi Singh's finish in the 43rd minute, but Nagaon came back to draw level in the 58th minute, thanks to Punam Kumari. Both the sides were equally dominant and fought out a very engaging battle for the inter district crown. The game had to be decided on penalty shootouts where Nagaon defeated Kokrajhar by a margin of 4-3.

Nagaon's Sudha Ganguli bagged the best player award while Priyangshi Singh of Kokrajhar bagged the Highest Scorer's accolade.
