9/11 Memorial To Be Held Amid Covid-19

Pratidin Bureau

New York will mark the 19th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Friday amid the coronavirus pandemic and a bitter political situation in the White House.

The city will be holding its annual ceremony in memory of the people who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks. A minute's silence will also be observed at the exact moments the terrorists crashed two hijacked airplanes into the World Trade Center towers.

Although the families of the victims will be present at the memorial, recorded statements by them will be played instead of reading out the roll call of the dead.

The site museum is also slated to re-open after almost 6 months since the pandemic brought the city to a halt.

9/11 remains synonymous with New York's heroism and resilience, almost two decades after the attacks.
