The Sri Lanka attack which left more than 200 people dead could be the handiwork of Muslim terror group National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ ).

The NTJ is an Islamist group that came into the radar after they vandalized a Buddhist statue three years ago.

"A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama'ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo," said the alert, reports AFP.

The Sri Lankan police chief Pujuth Jayasundara had prior information sent an intelligence warning on April 11 to the top officers alerting them of a potential attack on the Indian High Commission and prominent churches in Colombo.

Meanwhile the death toll from the eight blasts in Sri Lanka targeting churches and five-star hotels has risen to at least 207. Over 470 injured people have been admitted to hospitals.

The Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said that seven individuals have been arrested as of now in connection with the serial explosions. It also informed that a majority of the eight explosions were suicide bombings.

Apart from World leaders, Pope Francis has also condemned the attacks and said "I entrust to the Lord those who have tragically died and I pray for the wounded and for all those who are suffering as a result of this dramatic event."
