China may withdraw extradition bill: report

After several protests against controversial extradition bill, which would have allowed Hong Kong citizens to be sent to mainland China to face trial, is expected to be withdrawn.

The formal withdrawal of the proposed extradition bill is expected to announce later on Wednesday by Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam. The bill sparked three months of protests in the Chinese-ruled city.

Thewithdrawal of the bill is one of the main demands of pro-democracy protesterswho have plunged the former British colony into its deepest crisis in decades.
