Italian President Sergio Mattarella to attend a state funeral

Italian President Sergio Mattarella will attend a state funeral of the victims of Tuesday's bridge collapse in Genoa. The bridge is a main road in and out of Genoa, linking it to the A10 motorway and the road to France.

On Tuesday, a huge section of Morandi motorway bridge about 200m (656ft) long suddenly collapsed, falling 45m along with dozens of vehicles like playing cards.

According to the official source of Italy, by Friday, the rescuers found 38 dead, along with five people still missing.

The cause of the unexpected tragedy is not clear so far. The bridge was constructed in the 1960s. Mr Mattarella and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte will lead mourners at the ceremony at a hall in the city. 38 people are confirmed to have died so far in the unexpected bridge collapse tragedy.

Some families of the victims will not take part on Saturday's state funeral ceremony because of anger at the Italian government.

The collapse of a section of the Morandi motorway bridge and the deaths of those crossing in vehicles have led to a drastic debate in Italy about the nation's infrastructure. People are questioning regarding the infrastructure related activities of the country.

Saturday's ceremony coincides with a national day of mourning for bridge collapse tragedy and this funeral ceremony will be led by the city's archbishop, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco.
