At a recent media interaction, Sudeep clarified the reasons behind his earlier decision to step down. “Some ideas were not executed last year, and I walked away because of that,” the actor-director admitted. However, the production team seems to have taken his concerns seriously. "Now they’ve been incorporated. That’s why I’ve come back," he confirmed.
While Season 11 was marked by speculation that Rishab Shetty might take over as host, Sudeep put those rumors to rest by explaining that his exit wasn’t for dramatic effect. “I had clearly stated at the beginning of Season 11 that it would be my last. I reconfirmed it again towards the finale. It wasn’t a dramatic exit. I meant what I said,” he clarified.
Hosting With a Purpose: Sudeep on the Responsibility
Sudeep emphasized the responsibility that comes with hosting such a massive reality show. “Yes, I get paid for it, but that also means I commit. Viewers wait for my weekend episodes. For three-and-a-half months, this show lays the foundation for the year, both for the contestants and the channel,” he noted.
He also revealed his behind-the-scenes involvement. “I’m there only on weekends, but I watch the show daily. If a task doesn’t go well, we discuss it.”
Promo Shot, Launch Date Shifted
The promo for Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 has already been shot and is expected to drop in the coming days. However, the show’s launch has been slightly delayed at Sudeep’s request.
“They wanted it to start on a certain date, and I have requested them to push it ahead by 3–4 weeks,” said the actor. He explained that he’s trying to ensure the release of his upcoming film Billa Ranga Baashaa in 2025, with another project in the pipeline.
Bigg Boss Kannada’s Unstoppable Growth
Speaking about the show's popularity, Sudeep compared its current stature to that of a major sporting event. “The audience treats it like the IPL. The growth in the last three seasons has been phenomenal — big leaps, not just small steps,” he shared. The actor also highlighted how the platform has helped contestants transform their careers.
When asked about replacement talks, he responded with humility, “Even if someone else had hosted it, I would've watched. Perhaps I would have even called them with suggestions. The show must go on — that’s the most important thing.”
With Kiccha Sudeep back in the host's chair, fans can rest assured that Bigg Boss Kannada 12 will continue to deliver high drama, entertainment, and memorable moments. If Sudeep’s renewed commitment is anything to go by, the next four seasons are set to take the reality TV experience to a whole new level.
