The first glimpse of the upcoming season has already taken the internet by storm, showing Irani draped in a deep maroon saree and adorned with traditional heavy jewellery. The look is unmistakably Tulsi—poised, powerful, and instantly evocative of the show’s golden years on Indian television.

Reflecting on the show's legacy, Smriti Irani—now a prominent political figure—shared, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was never just a television serial. It was a story that mirrored our families, values, and emotional bonds. It belonged to all of us—those who created it and the millions who lived it alongside us.”

Adding to the wave of nostalgia, Amar Upadhyay, who portrayed Tulsi’s on-screen husband Mihir Virani, has also returned to the cast. He was spotted on set in smart formal attire, looking remarkably close to his 2000s avatar. In a lighthearted interaction with paparazzi, he shared his excitement: “It’s fantastic—first day, first scene, and all the memories came rushing back.”

Irani’s return marks her first acting project in years, following a long hiatus during which she focused on her political career. The second season, originally scheduled for a July release, faced minor delays but officially went into production on July 4. With filming now underway, anticipation is building fast among longtime fans and a new generation of viewers alike.

Tulsi and Mihir's turbulent yet tender relationship formed the emotional heart of the original series, and their return promises the same high-stakes drama, tearjerking moments, and generational storytelling—but this time with a contemporary twist.

Produced under the Balaji Telefilms banner, Season 2 is expected to blend the grandeur of the past with modern storytelling sensibilities. With its iconic characters, legacy status, and immense nostalgia factor, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is poised to reclaim its place as a prime-time juggernaut on Indian television.
