The accused, identified as Nilay Kumar, was apprehended by a team of Dispur Police from Patna and brought back to Guwahati for further legal proceedings. He had been on the run ever since his name surfaced in the case.

On June 21, Paban Hazarika, who ran the Affinity Classes coaching centre in Kahilipara, was found dead at his rented residence. A suicide note recovered from the scene reportedly alleged sustained harassment by several individuals.

Following the incident, Paban’s father filed an FIR at Dispur Police Station, naming three businessmen—Ankit Agarwal, Nilay Kumar, and Bikash Sisodia—as responsible for mentally harassing his son, allegedly pushing him towards suicide.

Police had earlier arrested Ankit Agarwala, one of the prime accused in the case. However, the other two suspects, Nilay Kumar and Bikash Sisodia, had gone absconding soon after.

With Nilay’s arrest in Patna, police have intensified their search for the third accused, Bikash Sisodia, who remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests or charges as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Paban Hazarika’s death.
