In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly committed suicide in Guwahati's Dakshin Gaon on Sunday, sources said.
The deceased has reportedly been identified as Pawan Hazarika (27), a native of Assam's Lakhimpur district. Sources said that, at the time of his death, Pawan was the Managing Director of Affinity Classes, a private educational institute in the city.
According to initial reports, Pawan allegedly took the extreme step due to prolonged mental harassment. A team from the Bhagadattapur Police Station arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the matter.
In connection with the case, a youth named Ankit Agarwala has been detained for questioning. Investigators suspect that Ankit may have subjected Pawan to continuous psychological torment, which could have driven him to suicide.
A suicide note has also been recovered from the scene. In it, Pawan reportedly mentioned a financial transaction involving Rs 60 lakh, pointing to a possible monetary dispute as a reason behind the drastic decision.
Police are continuing their investigation and examining all angles related to the incident, including financial coercion and personal harassment.
