Dispur Police's quick action to a kidnapping case in Guwahati helped recover an infant on Sunday. This comes after a one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl was kidnapped by a miscreant from the road near the Khanapara flyover.
The kidnapped infant was safely recovered from Khanapara itself and is presently safe with the police, as per reports.
Meanwhile, a woman, suspected to be behind the kidnapping incident, was detained by the police. According to the information received, the woman was detained by the locals and handed over to the officials.
It was reported earlier that according to some witnesses, Hasina Begum, the infant's mother, who works in a shop near the Khanapara bus stop, was taken aback when she learned that the baby had been abducted.
The incident came to light after a few bus drivers saw the miscreant eloping with the baby on his lap at around 11 am.
Initially, the man was discovered playing with the baby, however, within minutes he made a dash for it with the baby. The aforementioned individual had previously visited the lady at his shop on several occasions and pampered the baby.
The matter was brought to the notice of Dispur Police who managed to track down and save the baby.
