The festive spirit of Bhogali Bihu was overshadowed by a tragic road accident in Teok under Assam’s Tinsukia district in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to sources, a Scorpio vehicle ran over six youths at Bamunpukhuri’s Bihingiya village. Two youths, identified as Abhijit Phukan and Amrit Gogoi, died on the spot following the impact.
Four others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical. The injured have been identified as Pranjit Gogoi, Manas Gogoi, and Ponakon.
The vehicle involved in the accident bears registration number AS-03-AN-9141. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
