Assam Government to Host Annual Music Concerts to Boost Tourism
In a bid to attract domestic and international tourists, the Assam government is set to launch a new Concert Tourism Policy, under which several major music concerts will be organised annually across key cities of the state.
As part of the initiative, cities like Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Silchar will host large-scale musical concerts aimed at promoting Assam as a vibrant cultural and tourist destination. The state plans to organise three to four major concerts every year, with the first events likely to be held within the current year itself.
Government officials stated that Assam now has adequate hotel infrastructure and improved transportation facilities to support such events and accommodate visitors comfortably.
Importantly, all concerts will be managed and ticketed exclusively through the ‘BookMyShow’ platform, with no direct interference or involvement from the state government in the ticketing process. Even ministers and government officials will be required to purchase passes through the platform; no complimentary passes will be issued, authorities confirmed.
The policy is expected to not only boost cultural engagement but also stimulate tourism-related businesses in the state.
