Teacher Electrocuted While Turning Off Inverter in Assam's Bongaigaon
A wave of sorrow swept through Bongaigaon's Abhayapuri on Monday after a local school teacher tragically lost her life due to electrocution at her residence. The deceased, identified as Alpana Mondal, was a teacher at Abhayeswari Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School.
According to family sources, the incident occurred late Sunday night amid bad weather. Mondal reportedly attempted to switch off the inverter at her home in Amguri, Abhayapuri, when she came in contact with an electric current. The shock proved fatal.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
The news of her sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the local community and the school where she had long served as a devoted educator. On Monday morning, her mortal remains were brought to the school premises, where students, colleagues, and residents gathered to pay their last respects. A solemn tribute was held in her memory.
“She was more than just a teacher — she was a mentor, a guide, and a source of strength for many of us,” said a colleague from the school, struggling to hold back tears.
The incident has once again raised concerns over domestic electrical safety, especially during stormy weather when the risk of such accidents increases.
Alpana Mondal is survived by her family members, who are now grappling with the irreparable loss.
As the town mourns the loss of a beloved teacher, the void left by her absence will be deeply felt in both her home and her classroom.
