Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi addressing a press conference today in Guwahati where he claimed that Baruah’s wife also owns a five-storey luxury hotel in the heart of Guwahati.

The hotel in question, Kailash Residency, is located on RP Road, behind the MLA Hostel near Ganeshguri, and is considered one of the most sought-after localities in the city.

According to Gogoi, the hotel was constructed on a high-value plot in Jatia, close to Dispur, reportedly acquired from a known land broker, Rameshwar Talukdar, under Patta No. 820 and Dag No. 1083. The location, adjacent to MP Bookstall and the MLA Hostel, places the land’s estimated worth in several crores.

Gogoi also reiterated his earlier revelations made yesterday, where he claimed that Julie Deka Baruah’s firm, JMB Aqua Agro Pvt. Ltd., had purchased 39 bighas, 3 kathas, and 16 lechas of land in Rangia on April 26, 2023. On the same day, she is also said to have purchased an additional 36 bighas in Tezpur, which brings the total land acquired in her name to over 75 bighas in a span of just two days.

Adding to this, Gogoi revealed that Julie Deka Baruah had also bought 2 kathas and 18.79 lechas of land in Jatia under the Dispur revenue circle, again on April 26.

He also alleged that Baruah had encroached on 85 bighas of government land.

The Kailash Residency hotel, he said, is a three-star facility, featuring modern interiors and amenities. The ground floor is already occupied by a KFC outlet. A team from Raijor Dal visited the site on June 4, observing that the structural work had been completed and the interiors were in the final stages.

Gogoi also released photographs of the hotel’s interiors, describing them as evidence of the scale and luxury of the construction.

Targeting the BJP, Gogoi said, “The grassroots workers who built the BJP with their sweat and sacrifice still can’t afford a plot of land. But the wives of a few former Congress leaders who joined the BJP post-2014 have become crorepatis. Meanwhile, the wives of old BJP workers are still cooking at home.”
