Several areas of Guwahati are reeling under flood owing to the non-stop rain that has hit the city along with the rest of the Assam in the last few days.

As per latest reports, the water level in river Brahmaputra has exceeded the danger level of 49.68 meters and is expected to rise to 50.55 meters by Monday (July 15).

A number of residences located near the Brahmaputra were washed away by the flood water causing serious communication cramp for the people.

The Shankardev and Azan Pir Udyan located along the banks of the river Brahmaputra have also been inundated with flood water.

It may be mentioned here that the 35-feet tall statue of Ahom General Lachit Borphukan installed in the middle of the Brahmaputra and a statue of Lord Vishnu sitting on Sheshnag placed on a vertical pillar in the Brahmaputra river near Chakreshwar temple in Kalipur is on the verge of getting submerged.

The meteorological department has announced more rainfall in the upstream of the Brahmaputra and this may further flood Guwahati.
