Japanese Encephalitis Strikes Jamugurihat, One Dead

Amid rising cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) across Assam, a man from Jamugurihat has reportedly died due to the deadly infection. The deceased has been identified as Arup Nath, a resident of Jamidar Chuk in Jamugurihat.

According to reports, Arup initially developed a fever and was later diagnosed with Japanese Encephalitis after medical tests confirmed the presence of the virus in his body. He was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment. However, despite all efforts, he succumbed to the disease.

Following the arrival of his body at his residence in Jamidar Chuk, a pall of gloom descended over the area. Locals have expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death and have urged the health department to immediately carry out fumigation and other preventive measures in the region to curb the spread of the disease.
