Kamrup Farmer Earns Praise for Cultivation Under 'ATMA' Scheme

In a notable government initiative aimed at empowering farmers, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) continues to make strides in Kamrup district by providing farmers with essential resources like quality seeds, technical assistance, and timely training programs.

In one such instance, Manabjyoti Das, Project Director of Kamrup ATMA and District Agriculture Officer, along with Rajiv Kumar Bhuyan, Director of the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), visited the progressive farm of young farmer Prasannajit Boro in Dari village, Boko. The officials were highly impressed by his efforts and commitment to modern agricultural practices.

Prasannajit Boro has cultivated the 'Red Lady' variety of papaya over nearly 16 bighas of land using seeds provided under the ATMA scheme. He has also availed benefits under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for the Northeast and Himalayan states, as well as from the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) - through which he has implemented mulching paper and drip irrigation systems in his field.

Commending his work, the visiting officers assured Prasannajit of continued departmental support and encouraged him to further contribute to the region’s agricultural growth.

Additionally, the two senior officials held discussions with members of the Mouman Palm Growers Group in Mouman village, also in Boko. The interaction focused particularly on challenges faced in the cultivation and marketing of palm oil. The officials took note of the issues and extended words of encouragement to the farmers, assuring them of institutional backing.
