Landslide Halts Train Services in Lumding–Badarpur Section; Several Trains Cancelled (File Image)

Train services along the crucial Lumding–Badarpur Hill section were severely disrupted on Thursday evening following a massive landslide between Dihakho and Mupa stations. The incident occurred at Kilometer 51/2-3, where heavy boulders and debris fell onto the tracks, bringing rail movement to a complete halt.

Senior officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert. Restoration work has already begun, but officials confirmed that the section will remain closed to train traffic until the debris is cleared and the track is declared safe.

To assist affected passengers, help desks have been activated at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala railway stations.

As a consequence of the disruption, the following changes in train operations have been announced:

Train Cancellations:

  • 15615 Guwahati–Silchar Express (Date of Journey: 03.07.2025)

  • 15611 Rangiya–Silchar Express (03.07.2025)

  • 15612 Silchar–Rangiya Express (03.07.2025)

  • 05628 Agartala–Guwahati Special (03.07.2025)

  • 05627 Guwahati–Agartala Special (04.07.2025)

Partial Cancellation:

  • 15618 Dullabhcherra–Guwahati Express (03.07.2025)
    Partially cancelled between New Haflong and Guwahati.

Rescheduled:

  • 12508 Silchar–Thiruvananthapuram Central Express (03.07.2025)
    Rescheduled to depart at 08:00 hours on 04.07.2025.

Regulated Trains:

  • 13174 Sabroom–Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express (03.07.2025)
    Currently at Mahur; returning to New Haflong and regulated.

  • 12520 Agartala–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express (03.07.2025)
    Regulated at New Haflong.

  • 15616 Silchar–Guwahati Express (03.07.2025)
    Regulated at Mupa.

  • 14619 Agartala–Firozpur Cantt. Tripura Sundari Express (03.07.2025)
    Presently at Dharmanagar; returning to Agartala and regulated.

  • 13173 Sealdah–Sabroom Kanchanjunga Express (03.07.2025)
    Regulated at Lumding.

  • 20502 Anand Vihar (T)–Agartala Tejas Rajdhani Express (02.07.2025)
    Regulated at Guwahati.

  • 12503 SMVT Bengaluru–Agartala Express (01.07.2025)
    Regulated at Guwahati.

Railway officials have urged passengers to check the latest train running status before planning their journey and contact the help desks or visit the IRCTC/NFR websites for further updates.

Restoration efforts are ongoing and the Northeast Frontier Railway has assured that all necessary resources are being deployed to expedite the clearance and resume normal traffic at the earliest.
