Young Man Brings Live Snake to Morigaon Hospital After Being Bitten

A young man from Lathabori village near Morigaon town created a stir at Morigaon Civil Hospital when he arrived with a live snake that had bitten him.

Mahendra Dewri, the victim, was bitten by the snake near a pond close to his home. Instead of leaving the snake behind, he captured it and, accompanied by family members, brought it to the hospital.

His arrival with the live snake in hand left hospital staff and visitors stunned, as they watched the unusual scene unfold. Medical authorities confirmed that Dewri was receiving proper care and cautioned the public against handling venomous snakes.

Incidents like this highlight the ongoing risk of snake bites in rural Assam, where water bodies and human settlements often overlap with natural snake habitats. Experts advise that victims avoid handling snakes directly and seek immediate medical attention.
