In a dramatic and shocking turn of events, the Nagaon police have recovered 13-year-old Pinky Das alive from Guwahati’s Garchuk area. As per sources, Pinky, a Class VI student from Digholdari in Raha, was found at the residence of Pompi Doley in Garchuk on Friday.

Just a day earlier, a bloodied body of a teenage girl had been discovered near the Nagaon Medical College. The corpse was believed to be that of Pinky Das, who had been reported missing. The body was identified by her parents, uncle, extended family members, and neighbours, who all confirmed it was Pinky. Following the identification, the body underwent a post-mortem examination, after which the family performed the final rites. However, police had collected the DNA sample of the body before handing it over to the family.

On the other hand, in connection to the case, the Nagaon police had arrested five individuals. However, confusion arose after it was revealed that Pinky's parents had provided conflicting statements during the initial stages of the investigation. While the girl had reportedly left home at night, the family had claimed to the police that she had gone missing during the day, misleading the initial probe.

Despite the complications, Nagaon police continued their investigation with caution and eventually succeeded in locating Pinky alive in Guwahati. It was found that Pinky had travelled from Raha to Guwahati with a truck driver named Rahul Singh from Uttar Pradesh. She reportedly stayed for two days in ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal), after which an auto-rickshaw driver took her to Gotanagar, where she was ultimately rescued.

The discovery of Pinky alive has now raised questions about the unidentified teenage girl whose body was recovered and mistakenly cremated as Pinky’s. Nagaon police have reopened the investigation into the identity and circumstances surrounding the dead girl found near the medical college.
