“Not What We Expected”: Rajen Gohain Voices Discontent Over BJP Leadership

Senior Assam BJP leader and former Member of Parliament Rajen Gohain has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs within the saffron party, stating that the situation is far from what had been envisioned.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Gohain remarked, "What is happening in the BJP today is something we never expected. I am not satisfied with the way things are unfolding."

Highlighting growing public criticism, he added, "The media is now harshly and relentlessly criticizing the BJP, which is a matter of concern. BJP was never a political party that deserved to face such intense public condemnation. Today, it is facing an all-time low in terms of criticism."

Gohain also warned the party leadership against the sidelining of old and loyal party workers, emphasizing that doing so could have damaging consequences for the party. 

"If the party continues to ignore its old workers, it will only lead to harm in the long run," he cautioned.

Sources said that Gohain has been dissatisfied with the state BJP leadership and its functioning, especially since being denied a ticket in the last elections.

The former Minister of State for Railways and one of the senior-most BJP leaders in Assam, Rajen Gohain has long enjoyed a strong reputation among party workers. On the other hand, as per sources, on Saturday, Gohain held a three-hour closed-door meeting at a private hotel in Dibrugarh. This comes afetr speculation ihave been running high that veteran BJP leader may soon join the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).
