Owner of the 'Sadin-Pratidin Group', Jayanta Baruah, inaugurated an exceptional lecture on "Journalists and journalism in epics" organized by the Epic Study Centre in Assam's Jorhat on Sunday.

During the event, he said that the first name that comes to his mind in aspects of journalists and journalism is Maharishi Narada. Baruah said that Narada appeared during critical incidents, collected news and put out the story in favor of justice and also found a solution for it.
Giving an example of the same, Barua said that news presentation is also a remarkable aspect between the exceptional narrative of ancient epics including Ramayana, Mahabharata, character portrayal and objective analysis of events etc.
He further asserted that Narada was the carrier of news, adding that he was the first journalist.
The event was attended by editor of Assam Bani and novelist Dilip Chandan, Secretary of Epic Study Centre Dr Malini and litterateur Dr Basanta Kumar Goswami along with many socialites.
Notably, today is the 11th foundation day of Epic Study Centre. Moreover, Assamese news paper completed 175 years today, for which the event was organized.
