Assam Rifles Hosts Medical Camps in Manipur’s Remote Hill Districts
In a continued push to improve healthcare access in remote regions of Manipur, Assam Rifles successfully conducted a series of free medical camps under Operation Sadbhavna across villages in Jiribam, Tamenglong, and Noney districts. The outreach initiative, which spanned 15 days, concluded on July 11 and provided essential healthcare services to 841 villagers, including 219 men, 393 women, and 229 children.
The camps were held in the villages of Mongbung, Sejang, Saikulphai, Tuisen, Nungba, and Mukti Khullen, where access to basic medical services remains limited. Led by trained Medical Officers, the Assam Rifles medical team offered free consultations, distributed medicines, and conducted awareness sessions on primary healthcare and preventive practices.
Local residents from the host villages and surrounding areas turned out in large numbers, highlighting the trust and goodwill Assam Rifles has fostered among the communities. The camps not only provided immediate medical relief but also sought to promote long-term well-being by empowering locals with essential health knowledge.
This humanitarian initiative reflects the Assam Rifles’ broader commitment to community welfare in the Northeast, beyond their core security duties. By addressing critical healthcare gaps and promoting a spirit of mutual trust, the force continues to live up to its motto as the ‘Sentinels of the North East’.
The success of the operation reinforces the vital role such outreach programs play in bridging the healthcare divide in conflict-sensitive and geographically isolated areas.
