The Assam Rifles seized a massive consignment of country-made liquor worth an estimated Rs 15 lakh in Leinangpokpi village, Jiribam district of Manipur. The operation, conducted on July 9, led to the recovery of approximately 1,800 cases of illegal liquor and the apprehension of two individuals allegedly involved in the smuggling racket.
The successful raid marks yet another milestone in the Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order in the region. The seized liquor was believed to be part of a larger distribution network operating in violation of local and state regulations.
Officials from the Assam Rifles stated that the operation was part of a broader campaign to dismantle unlawful trade routes, safeguard public health, and support the civil administration in enforcing prohibition laws in certain parts of Manipur.
