Assam’s Rimpi Buragohain Clinches Gold for India at World Police Meet in USA
Assam’s rising star in athletics, Rimpi Buragohain, has secured a gold medal for India at the ongoing World Police and Fire Games 2025, being held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Competing in the long jump event, Buragohain soared past her international contenders to bring home the top honour.
The global championship, officially known as the World Police Athletic Championship, is being held from June 27 to July 6 and features elite athletes from law enforcement and fire service departments across the world.
Representing the Assam Rifles, Rimpi Buragohain’s performance in the long jump stood out, earning her a well-deserved gold medal and adding to India’s medal tally at the prestigious meet.
Prior to this international feat, Buragohain had already made her mark at the national level. At the All India Police Athletics Championship, she clinched the gold medal with a remarkable jump of 6.34 metres — setting a new record in the event.
