The body of a man was discovered early Tuesday morning in a pond in South Kamrup district on the outskirts of Guwahati city, with his hands, legs, and neck tied with rope - strongly pointing towards a possible murder.

The body was found in Kuwa Pukhuri, a pond located in Nahira village under Palashbari subdivision. As word spread, villagers gathered at the site in large numbers. Some identified the deceased as Anand Kalita, a resident of the same village.

Soon after, a team from the Bijoynagar police station arrived at the location, retrieved the body, and initiated preliminary investigation. The body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

According to the family, Anand had dinner at home the previous night and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The grim discovery has left the entire village stunned.
