Those granted bail have been identified as Arindam Bori, Pankaj Gogoi, Pranahari Phukan, Rishiraj Baruah, Dipankar Deka, and Rahul Phukan. The arrests were made following a heated protest that took place near Rajiv Bhawan, the district Congress office in Golaghat.

The incident occurred while the Chief Minister had arrived to inaugurate a newly constructed indoor stadium adjacent to the Congress office. As part of a wider statewide agitation, Congress workers were seen wearing black badges and waving black flags in protest.

Their primary demand was a fair and impartial investigation into the alleged illegal sale of Gir cows – a controversy that has come to be known as the “Goru Sur” (cow theft) scandal involving senior minister and powerful individuals, including minister Jayanta Malla Baruah.

According to reports, tensions escalated during the demonstration, and a bottle was allegedly hurled at the CM’s convoy. The projectile did not hit the Chief Minister’s vehicle but struck the car of Minister Atul Bora, sparking political outrage and leading to the arrests.
