Part of the 08-FPV project, Adamya’s induction marks a strategic advancement in India's efforts to enhance coastal surveillance and operational readiness, while also promoting indigenous defence production under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ programmes. The vessel is built with over 60% indigenous content, reflecting the nation’s expanding capability in designing and building sophisticated maritime platforms.

Adamya is a high-speed, multi-role patrol vessel equipped to carry out coastal and offshore patrolling, search and rescue (SAR), anti-smuggling, and law enforcement operations. The ship features advanced navigation and communication systems, enabling seamless coordination and situational awareness, even in demanding maritime environments.

The vessel is specially designed for operations in shallow waters, allowing it to respond quickly in near-shore zones. It is fitted with modern interception systems, enhancing its ability to monitor, track, and engage vessels involved in suspicious or illegal activities. Additionally, the ship includes systems that support environmental protection and maritime law enforcement, enabling the Coast Guard to perform multi-dimensional roles efficiently.

Officials highlighted the vessel’s importance in safeguarding India’s extensive 7,500-km coastline and maintaining order within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Fast Patrol Vessels like Adamya are designed for quick deployment and are expected to significantly boost India's coastal defence and maritime enforcement capabilities.

The induction of Adamya also underscores Goa Shipyard Ltd's growing role in India’s defence manufacturing sector. The shipyard’s work on the FPV project is not only strengthening national security but also contributing to employment generation and the development of specialized skills within the domestic shipbuilding industry.

The remaining seven vessels under the project will be delivered in stages, further bolstering the Indian Coast Guard’s ability to respond to evolving maritime threats, including piracy, illegal fishing, arms trafficking, and environmental violations.
