In a ghastly incident, a woman and her two young children were allegedly thrown off a moving train by unidentified miscreants at Panikhaiti on the outskirts of Guwahati city late Monday night.
The incident took place near Hatisila, where residents early Tuesday morning discovered a child crying in the rain, injured and alone near the railway tracks. Upon searching the nearby area, they found the child's mother and another small child lying unconscious, all three apparently thrown from a moving train under mysterious circumstances.
The victims were drenched, bruised, and in a semi-conscious state. Locals suspect that they were deliberately pushed off the train in the dead of night, though the motive and identity of those responsible remain unknown.
Despite alerting the local police, residents claimed officers failed to respond immediately. As the condition of one child was critical, locals rushed him to the hospital themselves. Police arrived later and took the mother and the second child for treatment.
No official statement has been released yet regarding the woman’s identity or what led to this suspected act of violence.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
