“Start Counting Your Days”: Audio Clip Reveals CEM Debolal Gorlosa Threatening To Kill Man

A man from Assam’s Dima Hasao district, identified as Rupanjit Langthasa has come forward with serious allegations against Chief Executive Member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa.

In an FIR, the man has accused the Gorlosa of directly threatening his life during a phone call facilitated by a mysterious visitor to his residence.

The incident reportedly took place on June 11, 2025, around 12:40 PM, when an unknown individual arrived at the complainant’s home near the Lumding-Silchar highway in Kasmaipur village, under Maibang Police Station in Dima Hasao district. Suspicious of the visitor’s nervous demeanor and erratic movements, the man began recording the interaction using his mobile phone which he put in his shirt pocket.

According to the FIR, the visitor, later identified as one Thaodesh Langthasa of Dihur Phonglo village, handed over a phone and informed the resident that the CEM wanted to speak to him. The call was placed on speaker, and the complainant claims he immediately recognized the voice on the other end as Debolal Gorlosa, a known public figure and former militant leader.

The complainant has provided a transcript of the conversation, originally in Dimasa and translated into English, in which the voice alleged to be that of CEM Gorlosa accuses the man of operating a fake social media account under the name “Dima Hasao” and engaging in defamatory activities such as photo manipulation. Despite repeated denials and offers of cooperation from the complainant, the caller is alleged to have issued several direct threats, including chilling statements such as:

“Do not forget who Debolal Gorlosa is. I have never let anyone go scot-free.”
“Your parents will not even know your whereabouts.”
“Start counting your days in this world.”

In the conversation, the voice also allegedly invokes the involvement of the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dima Hasao, claiming that both the police and Gorlosa’s team had been monitoring the complainant’s activities since January.

The complainant has expressed fear for his life and claims he has been forced to flee the district, taking refuge in undisclosed locations, including in Guwahati. He further claims that CEM Gorlosa’s past, which includes alleged involvement in political violence and the killing of former CEM Purnendu Langthasa and Executive Member Nindu Langthasa, adds to his fear.

Most alarmingly, the complainant alleges the current SP of Dima Hasao is complicit in the threat and surveillance, based on statements made during the recorded call.

In light of these developments, the complainant has formally submitted the FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, seeking police protection and legal action against the CEM and others involved.

As of now, no official statement has been issued by Debolal Gorlosa or the Dima Hasao district administration regarding the allegations.
