S. Jaishankar Meets Chinese Prez Xi Jinping, Discusses Ties in Beijing
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with his counterparts from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday.
Jaishankar, who arrived in China on Monday, July 14, for a two-day visit to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers' Conclave, is on his first trip to China since the Galwan Valley clashes in June 2020, which caused a significant strain in India-China relations.
In a post on social media, the minister said he conveyed greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Xi. He also briefed the Chinese leader on the recent developments in bilateral ties, emphasising the importance of continued dialogue and the guidance of leadership in navigating the path forward.
